Truth is being redefined to mean whatever anybody thinks things are suited tweet about that recently and I can't get it out of my head. If I am driving down the road and see a guy and think that he is an idiot that's my truth and that's the way things are for me. So now we have to if someone wants to reason with me argue that while that may be your truth the actual truth is this. As we go along and have to add more qualifiers to basic words that have very clear definitions that are being muddied by lawyers and purposeful RP skaters will quickly lose arguments and control of the language. Which seems to be the goal
Rape is not just rape anymore. You have to qualify it with was it date rape? Or was it perceived even though both people or however many people are involved consented to it but afterwards felt guilty? It's one thing if you commit assault with hate that now you're going to be punished more than if you had just committed assault. It's as if you know I could walk up to somebody and punch him in the face, and then when I was accused in court over committing a hate crime I could say I didn't even know the guy! I couldn't hate him!
This twisting of words and meanings is going to hurt us in the long run. I understand the efforts to be cute and shorten everything into more easily marketable bites of information but redefining words and having to add qualifiers just ruin that. So were caught in this turmoil of him shortening everything and then elongating everything with extra words just to try and explain what we mean when we say a word that was very clearly defined in the first place.
Words mean things. That's why they're trying to redefine them so that they can control us and control the conversation and in and control the outcome in their favor. It's called setting up an unfair advantage..
