The young today seem to think that pain is abnormal and that you should always be able to take something or do something to ease the pain.
I was recently talking to a 17 year old friend of my daughter. She was complaining that her job at the ice cream place made her wrist hurt and she was concerned she might have carpal tunnel syndrome. She's worked there for a couple of months. She's healthy. She's never worked before.
As a person who has lifted weights since the age of 16 I can tell you that pain brings growth.

Indivisible
One of the saddest things to watch is how people running for office automatically divided people into groups. Then spend their time wooing specific groups in their effort to win through strategy.
How about this: Tell the truth, talk about what you believe in and hope to help our city/county/state/country accomplish, and let the best person win? That's this American's way.

Freedom from the president
One of the funniest things about presidential campaigns is how so many candidates get up there and talk about what they're going to do the impact my daily life.
I don't think that candidates like the understand that the president doesn't impact my daily life very directly. Yes, the president can propose things and implement different things that will change things around me things that I can and cannot do. But to overreach and directly tell me you know this is what you're doing today is not the president's function.
I am free. Yes, it is within certain boundaries and yes, I cannot just go out and do anything that I want. But the president does not rule me. The president represents our country. He also leads our country's efforts to do certain things. But he or she eventually does not rule me.
As an American I bristle every time I hear somebody talk about how they're going to make someone so do something or I promise that I will do this or that for you Mr. individual in the crowd. As an American I understand that that responsibility is mine, not theirs. If I want it all make it happen. I could use help, I could use the setting and laws and structures to help me get there, but otherwise stay out of my way. In fact, one of the best things that a president can do is help get things out of my way.
I think that's what all Americans should want. And it's sad to watch so many Americans fall into the trap of servitude by relying on the gifts of taxpayers to survive.

Food from thin air
I read a story about NASA coming up with a way to filter air so that they could create a food source from thin air.
This is American ingenuity at work. One of the wonders of what we do as Americans as we take what's available and we come up with new and novel ways to use them. Here is around us all of the time, and doesn't go away. And yet these scientists work together to come up with a way to use air as if it was water and to strain it and gather the particles from it so that they could actually create food from the air.
The article talks about how the substance is a lot like flower and can be used in food.

I'm not sure how this will be used in the future, and I'm kinda curious what the save the planet people will say when they find out that there's a way to clean the air. And I'm sure there are ramifications if they were to scale this up into a large operation that we would discover that taking the particulates out of the air would have a negative impact on some creature or group of creatures that would throw the entire planet out of balance. But it's a great demonstration of American ingenuity.
