One of the reasons Lost was such a great show is that you never really knew what the end point was gonna be or even what the story was about. And that mystery is what made people tune in every week and then after it came out on DVD sit and watch the entire series at one time trying to figure it out.
There's so little mystery nowadays. Video games come out then within a few days all of the cheats are online and all of the bosses are known online and people already know the mystery before they start.
I think that's one of the reasons that "the journey is life" has become such a popular meme. Because along the way you're never sure what's gonna happen even though you know what the in the goal is. And for so many people because they already know what the end goal is they start doing weird crap on the journey in an effort to try to eke out a little bit more of a dopamine hit or more of the enjoyment or or try to get extra notoriety because they know that so many others have already done what they're doing.
Sometimes I think a little mystery helps everybody.
